Frequently asked questions
Where can I find a therapist?
The main referral source therapists use is Psychology Today. I also highly encourage you to seek out referrals from friends or colleagues, as their opinions can help you find someone who may be a good fit for you!
My family loves working with you. Can I become your client?
I'm happy to hear your family member is finding success in therapy with me, but in order to provide the best care possible I do not do individual work with family members unless there are extenuating circumstances. Having clients of the same family can challenge my goal of remaining as objective as possible.
There are so many types of therapy offered: CBT, Somatic, Psychodynamic. How do I choose which is right for me?
The reason there are so many types of therapy is that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. You need to find what works best for you! That might mean trying different modalities or different therapists. Our ultimate goal as therapists is for you to grow and meet your goals. We recognize that we won't be able to do that for everyone, and that's okay.
I would love to do therapy but I can't afford it right now. What options are available to me?
There are some great options for reduced-rate or pro-bono therapy for those who don't have insurance coverage or have limited financial resources. Feel free to contact me to see if I have any availability for reduced-rate spots.
Some other options you can look into are Open Path and Affordable Therapy Networkwhich offers reduced-rate therapists. Some employers offer a certain number of sessions through their EAP program, or if you are a student your school may offer low-cost or free sessions.
I realize therapy is an expense, but it is also an investment in your health. As much as possible I will work with you to accommodate your financial circumstances, such as spacing out our sessions or doing shorter couples sessions. I also work hard to keep my rates as reasonable as possible based on my experience and education, as well as current standards of living and inflation.
Do you have resources I can access if I can't afford to go to therapy right now?
